Trio of execs will temporarily run retailer while permanent replacement sought

The Michaels Cos. Inc. (Irving, Texas) announced that its board has established an Interim Office of the CEO to provide ongoing leadership now that former CEO Ashley Buchanan has exited to take the top role at Kohl’s.

Named to the new unit are: President Heather Bennett, Chief Merchandising Officer Stacey Shively and CFO Perry Pericleous. Together, they will manage the company’s day-to-day operations while the board completes its search for a permanent CEO.

“Heather, Stacey and Perry are experienced, accomplished executive leaders who are well-equipped to ensure the ongoing execution of the company’s strategic plan,” said board chairman Andrew Jhawar. “At the same time, the board is making great progress on the search for a permanent CEO, the results of which we expect to announce in the near future.”

The arts-and-crafts retailer operates more than 1300 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
