Wal-Mart makes organizational changes in ladies’ wear, three executive promotions

on

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) has named Lucy Cindric senior vp and general merchandise manager of its ladies wear division, effective immediately. Cindric will oversee ladies’ intimates, sportswear, juniors, active, outerwear, swimwear, plus sizes and accessories.

Celia Clancy, who previously served in that position, will step into a new role within the product development team, as vp, brand strategy, and will relocate to New York, to the retailer’s recently opened trend office, to act as a liaison between key suppliers and Wal-Mart while helping interpret key trend statements for each brand.

Lisa Waltuch, creative director for product development, will also expand her responsibilities to include design direction for all apparel and home private brands and packaging. Waltuch opened Wal-Mart’s New York trend office a year ago and will continue her role from this site.

Prior to Cindric’s promotion, she served as vp and divisional merchandise manager for ladies wear. She joined Wal-Mart in 2003 after serving as a senior vp and general merchandise manager for May Department Stores (St. Louis) — including its Kaufmanns, Foleys and May Ohio divisions. She also worked for then-named Dayton-Hudson, the department store operation that became a division of Target Corp. (Minneapolis).

Before coming to Wal-Mart, Clancy served 15 years with Bradlees Stores (Braintree, Mass.), where she held positions in fashion merchandise. She started her retail career at Filene’s Department Stores (Boston).

Waltuch began her career with Wal-Mart as creative director for the retailing giant’s online operation, walmart.com, in 2000 before moving into her current position. Prior to joining Wal-Mart, she was a creative director in interactive media for 10 years.

As part of the organizational announcement, Wal-Mart’s girls division will move from ladies wear to children’s apparel. With this change, Andy Barron, senior vp and general merchandise manager, will now oversee men’s apparel along with baby, infant/toddler, boy’s wear and girl’s wear.
