Department store retailer Neiman Marcus (Dallas) will eliminate all products containing animal fur from its assortment by early 2023, according to a press release. Its new Animal Welfare Policy applies to all Neiman Marcus Group brands, including Bergdorf Goodman. All existing fur salons will also be closed.

“It is clear the future is fur-free, and that includes the ultra-luxury space. As a leader in luxury retail, NMG has an opportunity to help build a better future for our industry. We’re grateful to the Humane Society of the United States for their partnership,” said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO, Neiman Marcus Group.

The move is part of the retailer’s overall effort to identify, improve and disclose performance on material environmental, social and governance issues including animal welfare, sustainability and ethically sourced products.
