The New Year brings new CEOs at three brands, all of which drew from their respective boards to fill their top executive posts. The companies are:

* Bed Bath & Beyond (Murray, Utah), whose Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis issued a letter to the retailer’s stakeholders announcing he was assuming the role of CEO. Lemonis said his intention is to oversee BB&B’s as “we expand outside of purely transactional retail into revenue sources such as home services, home transaction platforms, home staging and improvement protection and financial tools.”

* Saks Global (New York), which said Executive Chairman Richard Baker has assumed the role of CEO, replacing Marc Metrick. The move reflects Metrick’s desire to pursue new opportunities, the Saks Global news release said. (As of this posting, Metrick has not yet disclosed any future plans.) The news comes as Saks Global – which was created in late 2024 by the merger of Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus – continues to struggle financially and is possibly headed for a bankruptcy filing in coming weeks, according to a variety of news sources.

*Twin Hospitality (Dallas), parent of the Twin Peaks and Smokey Bones restaurant chains, which announced it has ousted CEO Kim Boerema and replaced him with board chair Andy Wiederhorn, who assumed that role last August. The restaurant chain did not provide any specifics on why it had axed Boerema, an industry veteran hired last May. Additionally, the company said COO Roger Gondek will now also serve as President of Twin Peaks. “This leadership restructuring optimizes our resources while minimizing overhead, providing additional value as we work to restructure our debt and strengthen the company for long-term success,” said Wiederhorn.
