Nordstrom Rack Pipeline Remains Robust

But no new department stores planned

Nordstrom (Seattle) will open 19 of its discount Rack stores this spring and fall, according to the retailer’s website and several news releases. In 2024, the retailer opened 14 Racks in 11 states.

Here are announced Rack openings for this spring:

• Fischer Marketplace, Apple Valley, Minn.

• The Davis Collection University Mall, Davis, Calif.

• Randall Square, Geneva, Ill.

• Sycamore Commons, Matthews, N.C.

• Manalapan Commons, Manalapan Township, N.J.

• Royal Ridge Center, Nashua, N.H.

• Park West Village, Morrisville, N.C.

• Westchase Shopping Center, Houston

Set to open this fall are Racks in:

• Harvest Junction, Longmont, Colo.

• Smith Haven Plaza, Lake Grove, N.Y.

• Coconut Point, Estero, Fla.

• West End Center, Lubbock, Texas

• Lakeside Village, Lakeland, Fla.

• The Village at Meridian, Meridian, Idaho

• The Avenue Viera, Melbourne, Fla.

• The Landing at Hyannis, Hyannis, Mass.

• The Shops at SunVet, Holbrook, N.Y.

• Prasada North, Surprise, Ariz.

• Pine Ridge Square, Coral Springs, Fla.

Overall, Nordstrom operates about 380 Racks, a discount chain it launched in 1973. It hasn’t opened a new, full-price department store since its New York flagship in 2019. (Related note: A buyout by the chain’s founding family and Mexican retailer El Puerto de Liverpool that will take the company private is expected to close by the middle of this year.)
