Stanley Wayne Mayfield, formerly of Neiman Marcus among others, has passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born August 17, 1941, Stanley had a storied visual career starting at Volk Brother’s Department Store and E.M. Kahn & Co., in their display departments. He transitioned to Neiman Marcus in the 1960s. There he became Display Director and was promoted to Director of Corporate Visual Presentation in 1977 and, later, VP of the Corporate Visual Presentation Dept. In 1983, he became the Director of Store Design, overseeing Neiman Marcus locations from California to New York. He was a visionary behind Fortnights, an annual Neiman Marcus tradition that was held in its downtown Dallas store. After Neiman Marcus, Stanley worked with SusanCrane Packaging Co.

Stan was preceded in death by his life partner, Clayton James Meadows Jr., with whom he spent more than 50 years together. He was also preceded in death by his mother and sister, and is survived by his brother, niece, nephew and great-nephew.

Stanley’s family welcomes donations in his memory to the First Unitarian Church at 4015 Normandy Ave., Dallas, Texas 75205, in lieu of flowers.
