OfficeMax Names Retail Leader

Michael Lewis will oversee all aspects of the retail business

OfficeMax Inc. (Naperville, Ill.) has hired Michael Lewis as executive vp and president of retail. In this position, Lewis will report directly to Ravi Saligram, president and ceo of OfficeMax, and will handle all aspects of the company’s retail, including merchandising, store operations and real estate.

“Michael brings a dynamic blend of leadership, retail expertise and disciplined execution to OfficeMax,” says Saligram. “His operational know-how and superb track record of driving profitable growth in tough retail environments will enhance the customer experience and improve store productivity.”

Lewis’ career spans more than 30 years and includes a stint from 2010 to early 2011 as global head of a Merchandising Center for Walmart Stores. Prior to that role, he was president of the company's Midwest division, from 2005 to 2010, with responsibility for more than 850 Walmart stores and more than 250,000 associates.

OfficeMax operates approximately 1000 stores.
