Birkenstock’s Boston store pays homage to the company’s 250-year history by utilizing the same raw materials found in the brand’s iconic clogs, such as felt, leather and cork.

BIRKENSTOCK (LINZ, GERMANY) opened its latest brick-and-mortar store on Boston’s Newbury Street, located in the city’s historic Back Bay neighborhood. Its opening in November 2024 coincided with Birkenstock’s 250th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, its design pays homage to the brand’s heritage materials – leather, felt and cork – which bring texture and warmth to the space. In addition, the curvy, geometric groves embedded on the soles of its iconic clogs became a visual touchpoint behind the fixtures. The new location also incorporates digital integration for customer convenience, including buy online, pick-up in store (BOPIS) and buy online, return in store (BORIS) services.
