Earlier this summer, footwear retailer Birkenstock (Linz, Germany) opened it’s first physical location in Paris. The new space is located in the city’s Marais district near art galleries, boutiques and other notable fashion brands.

Leather and cork are at the core of Birkenstock’s products and are prominently featured throughout the nearly 1400-square-foot store. The gypsum walls pay tribute to the rock quarries that Paris was built upon and provide light, natural tones that match the aesthetic of the brand. The basement was converted into an “experience area” where Birkenstock’s latest campaigns are showcased with a giant lightbox.

The space also features the brand’s new “Natural Active Recovery Pack,” which includes new footbeds and cork tools to extend the life of its shoes. The Paris store is the first of many locations for the brand set to open in European cities in the next few years, bringing their footbed experience to new consumers and communities.
