Cotopaxi (Salt Lake City), an outdoor apparel and gear brand known for its bold colorways and sustainable practices, opened its latest store in Boston. The Newbury Street location aimed to keep the history of the building, retaining the original 19th-century schoolhouse layout while adding the brand’s aesthetics of styles and colors.

“Our focus was to keep the existing floor layout and finishes, maintaining an open concept,” Matt Kempf, Lead Architect, BRR Architecture, said in a statement. “Our team enjoyed working with Cotopaxi to incorporate their branding throughout the store design while maintaining the unique characteristics of the building and neighborhood.”

The store also includes light wood floors, branded focal points on pillars and sleek, modern displays. As Cotopaxi’s first physical location on the East Coast, the retailer hosted special promotions and giveaways to connect with the community.
