IN MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY, THE historic 1917 Pablo Ferrando building was restored and adapted into a new store and restaurant for publisher and bookseller Feltrinelli (Milan).

The project preserved the building’s original architectural design as well as the skylight, staircase and, at the top of the staircase, the stained-glass window. The interior, designed by Toro Arquitectos, streamlines the traffic flow of guests and expands merchandise displays. Utilizing travertine marble, the store’s color palette is neutral while the lighting design enhances the space’s natural light. On the second floor, guests will find a restaurant with ample views of the city.
