On Our Radar: Grand Coffee Too

Housed in art gallery El Taller, this coffee shop blends vintage architecture with cultural touchstones

Grand Coffee Too, a coffee shop in the Mission District of San Francisco, opened its doors in July and is a key addition to El Taller, an art gallery, venue and maker space. Designed by Studio VARA, the café was created with theater in mind, putting the coffee bar in the center of the space, letting baristas show their craft, breaking the division between production and customer and inviting conversation and a sense of community. The space features raw, unfinished walls, Moroccan tiles and exposed brick, blending rough and refined, history and culture.
