TOKYO’S NEWEST STARBUCKS, located in the city’s Yanaka district, is part café, part art gallery.

The building’s design was inspired by the district’s historic architecture. Inside, the two-story interior is an open atrium that connects both floors, creating a bright, airy space. Artwork made by local community artists is displayed on the walls throughout the café for guests to enjoy. In the seating area on the second floor, the tall, vaulted ceiling allows abundant natural light to stream into the café. The wall-to-wall windows were strategically designed to offer views of the cityscape and nearby cultural landmarks. Light wood is used throughout, including the coffee counter, seating and exposed beams.
