HOUSED IN A LANDMARK building originally constructed in 1892, Tecovas recently opened its 50th store at 105 Wooster Street in the heart of SoHo’s Cast-Iron Historic District. Designed by IA, in collaboration with Tecovas, the brand’s first brick-and-mortar location in New York is set at 4500 square feet and is its largest store to date. Rather than overwriting the building’s history, the design embraces its 19th century bones, allowing original details to coexist with Tecovas’ contemporary, Western sensibility. Exposed brick and tin coffered ceilings are a nod to SoHo’s industrial heritage, and layers of handcrafted wood introduce warmth and texture throughout the space. The store is intentionally programmed to encourage personal interaction, reinforcing Tecovas’ “radical hospitality” ethos through elevated amenities such as a full-service bar with a dedicated bartender, a boot and hat customization zone, and fitting rooms designed with enhanced lighting. The result is a refined, service-driven environment that feels both distinctly Western and unmistakably New York.
