IN TOKYO’S VIBRANT retail district, Shibuya, jeweler Tom Wood (Oslo, Norway) opened its latest flagship featuring sleek industrial design.

Inspired by Brutalist architecture, the 3229-square-foot space is centered around a nearly 24-foot floating counter display. The walls and architectural columns were transformed into additional displays of the jeweler’s products. Designed in collaboration with Torafu Architects (Tokyo), the concrete-textured columns are visually contrasted with sleek stainless steel finishes throughout the store. To balance the industrial aesthetics and add warmth to the space is the in-store seating, designed by Japanese woodworker Kojiro Kitada and created with locally sourced pine and oak wood.
