Party City Launches Shops-in-Shops at Staples

Staples (Framingham, Mass.) announced that Party City shops are being set up inside more than 700 of its stores nationwide. The collaboration brings Party City’s selection of balloons, décor and party supplies together with Staples same-day print and marketing services under the same roof, the partners said in a news release.

“Staples has always been focused on making things easy for our customers, and our partnership with Party City takes that promise into new territory,” said Marshall Warkentin, President, Staples U.S. Retail. “By bringing Party City into Staples stores, we’re expanding what customers can accomplish in one place — combining helium balloons and party supplies with our print and marketing services to offer a complete solution for celebrations, from graduations to grand openings and everything in between.”

This marks the return of IRL Party City spaces; the chain bearing that name declared bankruptcy and closed all it stores in late 2024. Ad Populum (Santa Monica, Calif.) then bought Party City’s intellectual property (but not its store spaces) in early 2025.

“As we take the new Party City to more places than ever before, finding the right partners is essential,” said Joel Weinshanker, CEO of Ad Populum, whose other holdings include NECA, a seller of pop-culture action figures and collectibles, and Rubies, a costumes company. “Staples stood out immediately, not only for its national footprint, but for its strong connection to the communities we have both been part of for years. It felt like a natural fit from the start. Together, we’re making it easier for our many millions of combined loyal customers to celebrate and party with confidence at their local Party City, now at Staples.”
