New C-store concept includes car-charging station, dog wash

Poppy Markets, a new fuel station and/restaurant/convenience store, will open its first location in Arbuckle, Calif., later this month. Located off Interstate 5 about 50 miles northwest of Sacramento, the complex will include a car-charging station, dog-washing service, restaurant-style kitchen, car wash and bulk propane offering, along with such C-store staples as snacks and beverages.

The new concept is the brainchild of Loop Neighborhood Markets (Fremont, Calif.), reports C-Store Dive.

“It is our mission to reinvent the modern convenience store in an approach that invites and excites everyday consumers,” Varish Goyal, CEO of Poppy Markets and Loop Neighborhood Markets, said in a news release. “We aim to provide quality service while continuing to be a quick and affordable stop along the way. We are looking forward to bringing the Poppy Spirit to Arbuckle and making life a little bit more convenient and easier for everyone.”

Though the company has not specified how many Poppy locales it plans to open, it did say it did say “keep an eye out for many more Poppy’s popping up all over town and around California!” in a LinkedIn post.
