Primark, Sears Strike U.S. Deal

European retailer will lease Sears spaces

Published

European fashion retailer Primark has struck a deal with Sears Holding Corp. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) to lease seven U.S. Sears stores in the Northeastern U.S. Six of those sites will also include a Sears presence. The stores will feature a streamlined format of up to 100,000 square feet of selling space, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The Weston family, which owns Primark as well as Loblaws in Canada and Selfridges in the UK announced plans earlier this year to expand the low-cost fashion chain to the U.S. Primark’s plans also include the 2015 opening of a 70,000-square-foot Boston store at the site of a former Filene's Basement.
