Publix to Enter North Carolina Market

Store part of new division based in Charlotte

Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets Inc. has signed a lease for a store in the Ballantyne, N.C., an area of Greater Charlotte. The store will be part of a new division based in Charlotte.

“Our customers and associates have long asked us to come to North Carolina,” says Publix ceo Ed Crenshaw. “We look forward to providing the Charlotte community with the high quality service and products that our customers have come to expect and that have earned us recognition throughout the industry.”

The location is tentatively scheduled to open in early 2014. The privately owned and operated company operates 1061 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
