COVID-19: RDI Advises Chapters to Postpone Member Events

Published

on

The health and safety of each member of the Retail Design Institute is of paramount importance to our organization. After much conversation and due to the appropriate group restrictions being implemented across our nation and indeed around the world to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, your Executive Board is recommending that all upcoming Institute sponsored in-person events be cancelled, postponed or made virtual until such time as these restrictions are lifted.

This is indeed a difficult decision, as each Chapter's teams work to secure venues, sponsorship and participation at each event is a major undertaking. But in light of recommendations from the CDC and WHO, and requirements from governments globally, it is our mission to act responsibly.

The annual Board of Directors' meeting scheduled for May will be virtual. The 49th International Design Awards will be moved to late 2020, yet our judging and awards will be announced virtually this Spring. Our thoughts are indeed with those who have been affected by this challenging situation as it continues to unfold.

Know that your Board appreciates your understanding as we all navigate this constantly changing situation.
