Red Lobster announced that it plans to remodel all of its nearly 700 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada and introduce an updated logo. The new exterior and interior look is designed to be reminiscent of the seaside village of Bar Harbor, Maine. The new “contemporized” logo features an updated lobster icon and a new modifier that highlight’s the chain's fresh fish and lobster.

Loehmann’s Holdings Inc. (New York) filed for bankruptcy with a plan to reorganize by cutting $115 million in debt. Under Loehmann’s proposed restructuring, current owner Istithmar Retail Investments and noteholder Whippoorwill Associates Inc. would get equity in the reorganized company. Loehmann’s previously filed for Chapter 11 protection in May 1999 in Delaware, emerging the following year after cutting more than $140 million in debt, closing 25 stores and rejecting takeover offers from two rivals.
