RH (Corte Madera, Calif.) has opened the latest of its opulent stores, this time in Paris. The retailer, which has been steadily upping the design ante in its luxury home-furnishings stores under ebullient Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman, knows the retail world is watching.

“In Paris, the measure is eternity,” said Friedman. “This we know and have built accordingly.”

The seven-level, 42,000-square-foot store’s full name reflects its ambitions: RH Paris, The Gallery on the Champs-Élysées, A Celebration of Architecture, Design, Food & Wine. Housed in a 1983 building commissioned by aviation engineer Marcel Dassault, it was most recently home to an Abercrombie & Fitch store, report a variety of publications.
