Brand management company Iconix Intl Inc. has teamed with Hilco Consumer-Retail Group to acquire Salt Life (Columbus, Ga.), a lifestyle brand for water enthusiasts. The sale was for an undisclosed price through a bankruptcy auction.

In the aftermath of that buy, the partners plan to have the Salt Life brand a focus on wholesale and e-commerce, and close its 28 retail stores across 10 states. Liquidation sales are now taking place at all its stores.

Founded in 2003, Salt Life equips offshore fishing, surfing, diving and paddleboarding enthusiasts with apparel and gear.
