Shop-Rite Edges Out Walmart in New York

In Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Gateway II mall, a new Shop-Rite Supermarket (Keasbey, N.J.) has struck a deal to claim space sought by Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.). Walmart told Crain’s New York Business that it is still seeking a foothold in New York, despite the presence of anti-Walmart organizations such as Walmart Free NYC.
