One of the country’s largest shopping centers, the 2.4 million-square-foot Houston Galleria will undergo a $250 million renovation, according to Shopping Center Business.

Owner Simon Property Group (Indianapolis) says the renovation will begin this spring and include a new 200,000-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue flagship. The Galleria’s most recent renovations occurred in 2006. Simon says a new multi-level mall extension will feature space for 35 new stores and restaurants. A new 14,000-square-foot, freestanding retail building will connect to the rest of the Galleria via a covered walkway.

The mall’s luxury wing will receive $30 million in improvements. Top Shop and Top Man will open there in March. La Perla and Tod’s, later this year, and Celine next year. Chanel, Gucci, Bulgari, Versace, CH Carolina Herrera, David Yurman, Ralph Lauren, Apple and Tory Burch recently renewed their leases and underwent renovations.
