Footwear brand Skechers (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) reports its first quarter 2021 sales rose 15 percent to $1.4 billion, according to Pymnts. Its international wholesale revenue grew 24 percent while direct-to-consumer sales were up 18 percent.

CEO Robert Greenberg attributes the news to warmer weather and the rise in vaccination rates as well as the explosion of health and wellness trends during the pandemic.

“Skechers new sales record in the first quarter is a remarkable achievement, especially given the lockdown measures in many key countries, including across Europe,” Greenberg said. “This significant growth is the result of continued demand for Skechers product as consumers desire comfort and quality in their footwear and walking remains a top COVID-19 pandemic activity.”
