Archibald Candy Corp. (Chicago) has sold two of its landmark brands, Fannie May and Fanny Farmer, to Alpine Confections (Alpine, Utah), and will close its 242 retail stores on Feb. 15, 2004.

The 84-year-old company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2002 and re-emerged last October, will also close its Chicago manufacturing facility. Archibald will, however, continue to operate its 170-store Laura Secord retail chain in Canada.
