Ted Baker Canada (Toronto), which conducts business operations for Ted Baker in Canada, Ted Baker Limited in the United States, Brooks Brothers in Canada and Lucky Brand in Canada, has started store closing sales at all four of those units. The action comes as the retailer filed for bankruptcy protection under both Canadian and U.S. laws.

The affected North American stores are:
• 31 Ted Baker stores in Canada and nine in the U.S.
• Eight Brooks Brothers Canada stores.
• Seven Lucky Brand Canada stores.

The going-out-of-business sales involve 30 percent off in-store merchandise; all such sales are final, and no online sales are being made.

The North American bankruptcy comes roughly a month after Ted Baker’s European-based business asked a court there to take control of the company in an attempt to save it from liquidation, Retail Dive reports.
