The Container Store Cuts Two Percent of Corporate Workforce

The retailer continues to rebound from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy which it exited in January

The Container Store (Coppell, Texas) has laid off two percent of its workforce, according to Retail Dive. This affects less than 70 people who were mostly in corporate positions at the company.

The retailer also announced its plans to pause capital projects as it continues to recover from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy which it exited in January 2025.

In March, the company’s CEO Satish Malhotra resigned “to pursue other opportunities, effective immediately,” and was replaced by “an office of the chief executive officer,” led by Martin Schumacher, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer and former Chief Transformation Officer, and Joel Bines, Executive Chairman.
