Snacks and convenience food maker Kellogg (Battle Creek, Mich.) has opened a pop-up shop dedicated to its Cheez-It brand. Located in the desert near Joshua Tree, Calif., the Cheez-It Stop is “the biggest, cheeziest roadside attraction to ever grace America’s beloved highways and byways,” the company says.

“We know many Cheez-It fans love to travel and they never hit the road without their beloved Cheez-It,” said Erin Storm, the brand’s Senior Director. “We created this brand-first desert outpost to capture the excitement of summer road trips and encourage fans who ‘Want It. Need It. Cheez-It.’ to fuel up throughout their adventures. The Cheez-It Stop will wow with exclusive merch, massive, sharable Cheez-It visuals and aisles stocked with our famous crackers.”

The outside of the store resembles an old-fashioned filling station, complete with an oversized, cowboy-style mascot and a fuel pump that’s used to shoot bags of Cheez-Its into cars’ windows. (The bags are free.) The inside of the store is designed to create the feel of the roadside gift shops of yesteryear, selling mementos (Cheez-It-themed license plates, post cards, flip-flops, etc.) and hard-to-find Cheez-It flavors.

The Cheez-It Stop opened June 5 and operates through June 11. Located on Twentynine Palms Highway near Joshua Tree, Calif., getting there is indeed a road trip from the nearest large cities – it’s a 128-mile drive from Los Angeles and 168 miles from San Diego.
