Starbucks announces executive changes

Starbucks Corp. (Seattle) has said that Jim Donald will take over as president and ceo on March 31, 2005, when Orin Smith retires after five years on the job.

Donald, president of Starbucks’ North American division since 2002, was previously head of Pathmark Stores Inc. (Carteret, N.J.). Smith had been with Starbucks since 1990.

The company also promoted Jim Alling to the new position of president, Starbucks Coffee U.S.
