With the increased use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in operations and management of retail companies, Lily AI recently released the 2024 Retail AI Index to highlight the top 100 retailers using AI to make the most impact on their organizations.

Amazon, Walmart, and Stitch Fix fill the top three brands, respectively. Other companies in the top 10 include e-commerce retailers such as eBay and Wayfair, along with retail staples Target and Macy’s.

The criteria of the ranking included if the retailer used diverse AI technologies and how it uses AI to influence operations, improve customer service and enhance sales and marketing.

The top 10 retailers in the 2024 Retail AI Index:

  1. Amazon
  2. Walmart
  3. Stitch Fix
  4. eBay
  5. Wayfair
  6. Sam’s Club
  7. Target
  8. The Home Depot
  9. Macy’s
  10. Nike

“AI continues to empower retail leaders to reshape and modernize the customer experience, and it’s critical for all retailers to understand where they stand,” Purva Gupta, co-founder and CEO, Lily AI, said in the release of the ranking. “AI is becoming table stakes for retailers who want to stay competitive. Not surprisingly, the biggest of the bigs–Amazon and Walmart–have the resources to invest in AI extensively. But, as we found, even relatively smaller companies, such as Poshmark and Revolve, are taking highly innovative approaches and reaping the benefits.”
