(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — TPG Architecture, an award-winning New York City-based architecture and design firm, announces that Alec Zaballero, Managing Executive, was inducted into the Retail Design Institute’s Legion of Honor during its 53rd International Design Awards. Zaballero, who spearheads TPG’s retail, hospitality, and branded environments practices, joins three new legionaries who were honored in New York City for their professional, industry, and personal accomplishments.
“We are incredibly proud of Alec’s achievements and the well-deserved recognition he has received from Retail Design Institute,” says Jim Phillips, Managing Executive of TPG Architecture. “Since joining the firm in 1999, Alec quickly established himself as a design leader, known for his exceptional talent, creativity, and strong design vision. He has played an integral role in growing our retail practice and elevating our reputation within the retail community as a firm of choice.”
Zaballero has dedicated over 25 years to the retail design industry. With an extensive background in architecture and interior design and a passion for driving innovation, he has consistently redefined creative possibilities across retail, hospitality, and branded spaces. His expertise, combined with a keen eye for detail, enables him to transform clients’ visions into designs that exceed expectations. The mark he has made on the industry is vast — his dedication to his projects and clientele is reflected in his work for esteemed global brands such as Birkenstock, NHL, El Palacio de Hierro, Nintendo, Barneys, Boll & Branch, and Anheuser-Busch.
“The invitation to join Retail Design Institute’s Legion of Honor is both a remarkable honor and a humbling reminder that design excellence is truly a team effort,” said Zaballero. “It is a great privilege to be recognized alongside so many talented professionals, and my place amongst this year’s legionaries is a direct reflection of the commitment I share with my colleagues at TPG Architecture to collaboration and client service. Together, we look forward to continuing to redefine the future of retail design.”
The Legion of Honor Award is an accolade presented by the Retail Design Institute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, and impact in the field of retail design. Established in 2001, Retail Design Institute recognized that the retail design profession is driven not just by business executives but also by visionary designers. In response, they created the now highly prestigious Legion of Honor. Since then, the Institute has inducted 42 individuals, nominated by professional members, in recognition of their significant contributions to the field.
