Under Armour (Baltimore, Md.) will raise wages for its hourly retail workers to $15 in the U.S. and Canada effective June 6, reports CNBC. The move applies to more than 8000 employees and represent as much as 50 percent for some workers.

“We are committed to doing the right thing, and at the center of our commitment is ensuring our teammates feel valued and appreciated,” Patrik Frisk, Under Armour president and CEO, said in a statement.

The retailer currently has more than 3000 open positions in stores and distribution centers, all of which will be filled at the new rate of pay.
