Verizon Hikes Starting Pay for Retail Workers to $20 Per Hour

The company is also dangling sign-on bonuses in many markets

Verizon (New York) will increase its minimum wage for customer service and retail employees to $20 an hour, The Baltimore Sun reports.

The telecommunications company will also offer sign-on bonuses in many markets, ranging from $2500 for retail specialists to $3500 for assistant managers, the article says.

The pay raise applies to new and existing employees who currently earn less than $20 an hour. Krista Bourne, COO of Verizon’s Consumer Group, told the outlet that the changes were made to keep the company “an attractive employer in this competitive environment.”
