Walmart Names Canadian Ceo

Shelley Broader promoted to new position

Walmart Canada Corp. (Mississauga, Ont.) appointed Shelley Broader to ceo of Walmart Canada, after hiring her as chief merchandising officer last December. Broader replaces David Cheesewright, who was promoted to ceo of a new regional team at U.S.-based Walmart Stores Inc., overseeing business development in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Canada.

Broader has more than 20 years of retail leadership experience, serving as senior vp, at the company’s Sam’s Club division. Before that, she was president of crafts chain Michael’s, and previously headed Hannaford Bros.’ Kash n’ Karry and Sweetbay Supermarkets chains.
