Fossil Inc. (New York) announced it has entered into a licensing agreement with Marc Jacobs Intl. (New York) to develop and distribute women's and men's timepieces. The line will be sold under the Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs labels and will debut in fall 2005, with a Marc by Marc Jacobs collection following in 2006.

The watch collection will be produced in Switzerland and will be sold at Marc Jacobs boutiques and select department stores in the U.S. and abroad. Similar to its fashion designs, the timepieces will combine classic elements and luxurious materials.

“Marc and I are quite excited to be working with Fossil based on its solid reputation and successful history in the watch business,” said Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy.

Fossil offers fashion watches under the Fossil, Relic, MW, MW Michele and Zodiac nameplates, as well as licensed brands for Emporio Armani, DKNY, Diesel and Burberry.

The Marc Jacobs design house produces men's and women's fashions and ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, leather goods, sunglasses, scarves, a home collection and fragrance. The company plans to open stores in Boston, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Beijing this fall.
