Robinsons (Singapore) recently debuted its annual Chinese New Year windows to celebrate the new lunar year. The department store is one of many retailers in Singapore celebrating the holiday with seasonal displays, which Robinsons Head of Visual Merchandising Elizabeth Kwan notes are as highly anticipated as Christmastime windows. On display for four to five weeks, this year’s “Year of the Rooster” windows prominently featured traditional elements, including an awe-inspiring headdress, which Kwan explains was traditionally worn by Chinese nobles and royalty, but recently has gained popularity on fashion runways. “International [fashion] designers have collaborated traditional outfits into trendy fashion in modern wears, where tradition meets modern, as well as East meets West.”
