3form, a Hunter Douglas company, and leading manufacturer of architectural materials and solutions for the design industry, has named Christian Darby vice president of design, effective immediately.
Darby joins 3form from Nike, where he most recently served as global innovation design director. In this new role, he will oversee all design and marketing functions for the brand.
“Coming from a company that’s so revered for its innovation in design, Christian has a proven track record of pushing product to the next level, and understands what that process entails,” said Talley Goodson, 3form CEO.
Darby's appointment reflects 3form’s shift from an architectural materials provider to a full solutions company that can speak the language of architects and designers to better realize fully immersive spatial experiences.
“While 3form started with materials, we’ve progressively evolved into a brand that considers all surfaces and spaces – fabricating high-tech solutions from our factory in Salt Lake City,” said Goodson. “We are ready to move the conversation forward, taking the entire design process into consideration under Christian’s leadership.”
Having spent the last 25 years in apparel, Darby brings a fresh, forward-thinking approach to product development and 3form’s evolution within the design community.
“Good design translates from one product to another, so the transition from apparel to design has been a natural one,” said Darby. “The same can be said about approaching the process of innovation – it translates across industries. I’m excited to apply my background in design and innovation to 3form, and develop a clearer roadmap to an entirely new brand experience.”
