6 Arrested for String of Jewelry Store Robberies in Michigan and Ohio

Police arrested six people they believe were involved in robbing jewelry stores in Michigan and Ohio.

For the most part, the suspects used rental vehicles in the robberies, but in one case a stolen vehicle was also involved, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Among the robberies:

  • Jan. 13: Helzberg Diamonds, Auburn Hills, MI
  • Jan. 22: Kay Jewelers, Lansing, MI
  • Jan. 24: Sparkles Jewelry, Sterling Heights, MI. Police made the arrests after this robbery and recovered $170,000 in jewelry taken from the store.

The arrests were announced by the Troy Police Department.

Officials with the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department say the same group appears to be connected to six robberies in all, according to C&G Newspapers. Five of the suspects were charged with armed robbery, and one was charged with unarmed robbery as well as resisting and obstructing.
