Dollar Tree Inc. (Chesapeake, Va.) has appointed Conrad Hall to its board of directors. Hall was the president and ceo of Dominion Enterprises, a media and marketing information services company, until his retirement in 2009.
La-Z-Boy Inc. (Monroe, Mich.) has named Janet Gurwitch and Edwin Holman to its board of directors. Gurwitch, the chairman of Gurwitch Consulting Group LLC, was the co-founder of Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Holman is chairman of The Pantry Inc., an independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern U.S.
Consulting firm Stantec (Petaluma, Calif.) hired architect Michael Williams as senior project manager in the commercial program development practice.
Häfele America Co. (Archdale, N.C.), which manufactures furniture, cabinet and architectural builders hardware as well as electronic locking systems, announced Timothy (TJ) Gottwalt as its new product marketing manager for architectural builders hardware.

STORE OPENINGS
Meijer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) opened its first smaller format, grocery-focused store in the Chicago suburb of Niles. The new Meijer in Niles is about half the size of most Meijer supercenters at 102,000 square feet. The store is grocery- and pharmacy-focused, while still providing some general merchandise offerings.

idX Corp. (St. Louis) will be adding metal capabilities to its Louisville and Seattle facilities. At the same time, idX's new Baltimore facility, which has doubled its previous capacity, will expand its metal operation. As idX increases its capacity and capabilities at its U.S. facilities, it will shift production from its Toronto facility. All other aspects of the Canadian operation will remain in place, including design, development and project management.
Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI; Alexandria, Va.) honored 7-Eleven, Inc. as its 2009 winner of the Retailer Chief Award for Merchandising Excellence, for its commitment to marketing at retail advocacy, a proven history of activism on behalf of the marketing at retail community, and success and growth as a company.
Children’s brand 77kids by American Eagle (Pittsburgh, Pa.) announced that its pop-up store at The Mall at Robinson will remain open through April 3, based on positive customer response during the holiday season. The store closed for one week to refresh the interior decor and restock with spring merchandise, and has now reopened to customers.
Carpet manufacturer Beaulieu Commercial (Adairsville, Ga.) and TacFast Systems Intl., a licensing and manufacturing organization, announced a partnership in which Beaulieu Commercial will market and sell TacFast LocPlate products. The products feature a free-floating substrate and carpet tiles with a loop fabric covering the underside.
FRCH Design Worldwide (Cincinnati) has opened an office in Brazil in order to serve the growing retail and hospitality markets in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Sergio Barbi, a Brazilian retail veteran of more than 20 years, is heading up the operation.
