Jeffrey Yapp, formerly president and coo of Hollywood Entertainment Corp. (Wilsonville, Ore.), has been named group president of the retail division of Cablevision Systems Corp. (Bethpage, N.Y.). As such, he will oversee the operations of The Wiz, a New York-area consumer electronics retailer, and movie theater chain Clearview Cinemas.
Cablevision Systems, provider of cable TV to more than 3 million customers in and around New York, also owns Rainbow Media Holdings, which operates national cable networks (including American Movie Classics and Bravo) and regional sports channels; and Madison Square Garden, including the pro basketball New York Knicks and major-league hockey New York Rangers, plus Radio City Music Hall.
