Aero’s Bullseye

Thomas O’Brien, furniture and home products designer, will introduce a new home collection –called Vintage Modern — for Target Corp. (Minneapolis), in a nationwide rollout beginning this October.

O’Brien is founder of the design firm Aero Studios Ltd. and the Aero home furnishings store in Manhattan. He also has an exclusive home furnishings collection at Marshall Field’s (Chicago). At Target, he’ll join other design luminaries such as Michael Graves, Cynthia Rowley, Ilene Rosenzweig, Isaac Mizrahi and Rachel Ashwell.

“Vintage Modern allows me to share my approach as a home designer, and to help people focus on how to collect. It’s about all the unique things I love and live with,” he says. “I like to incorporate a bit of tradition; it makes modernism more approachable.”

The assortment contains over 500 items, including furniture, decorative accessories, lighting, dinnerware, bedding, bath and stationery. Neutral patterns, pale colors and dark woods dominate the decor.

“Thomas O’Brien is a luminary in the design industry and we are thrilled to have him on board at Target,” said Gina Sprenger, Target’s senior vp of merchandising. “His classic designs and modern sensibilities provide an innovative new way for our guests to decorate, and offer exceptional quality at remarkable value.”
