Aldi Adding 80 U.K. Stores in 2016

Aldi (Essen, Germany) has announced that it has plans to open 80 new stores throughout the U.K. during 2016. That amount is 23 percent more than the number of stores it opened during 2015 in the country and would also be its fastest rate of growth ever in the country. Adding 80 additional stores would also bring the chain’s store count to more than 700.

According to European Supermarket Magazine, this announcement comes after rival discount supermarket Lidl (Neckarsulm, Germany) announced its own plans to accelerate growth in the U.K.
