Alexander McQueen Label to Continue

PPR SA (Paris), parent company of the Alexander McQueen label, says the collection will carry on despite the death of the designer last week. Robert Polet, chief of the Gucci Group subsidiary, also stated that the collection McQueen was working on before his death will debut at next month’s Paris fashion week.

A British coroner confirmed that the fashion designer died by asphyxiation and hanging last week, just days before his mother’s funeral. He was 40.

PPR ceo Francois-Henri Pinault remembered McQueen, calling him a genius, a poet and a friend.

In 2000, Gucci Group’s PPR subsidiary acquired the McQueen label. The brand's men's and women's fashions are available at a handful of flagship stores in New York, London, Milan, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as specialty boutiques.
