Amazon Fresh Store to Feature Cashierless Tech

Amazon’s latest Amazon Fresh store, which opens in Bellvue, Wash. today, will feature its Just Walk Out cashierless technology, according to CNN Business. The frictionless checkout technology was first implemented in the retailer’s small-format Amazon Go stores.

The move to the larger Fresh stores is part of Amazon’s mission to demonstrate the technology’s “”continued ability to scale and adapt to new environments and selection,” said Dilip Kumar, VP of Physical Retail and Technology, in a statement.

Though all Amazon shoppers can use the cashierless checkout feature, it is not required.
