Amazon Opening Third Bookstore

Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) has announced plans to open its third brick-and-mortar bookstore. The store is slated to open this fall at Washington Square in Portland, Ore., according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The online retailer opened its first store in Seattle in November and will open one in San Diego later this summer. Unlike traditional bookstores, Amazon’s Seattle store displays books with covers facing out and pairs them with their online rating.

Amazon’s Portland bookstore will compete with Powell’s Books (Portland, Ore.), an independent bookseller with four locations in the city.
