Amazon Scouts First East Coast Store

Amazon Books (Seattle) is reportedly locking down space for its first East Coast retail store and café. The stores are planned to open in late 2018 or 2019, although it has not yet been confirmed in which building the retailer will be housed.

According to The Real Deal, the online retailer is negotiating space in New York’s new Hudson Yards megadevelopment. No deal has been finalized at this time.

The Manhattan-based Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York since Rockefeller Center. The development is slated to include more than 17 million square feet of commercial and residential space, office towers, more than 100 retail stores, restaurants and approximately 4000 residences, according to the its website.
