Apple Plans Second Chicago Flagship

Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.) plans to build another flagship in Chicago, on the site of an old gas station in the city's Clybourn Corridor shopping district. Architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is slated to design the 15,000-square-foot store on the lot, bound by North and Clybourn avenues and Halsted Street. Chicago's original Apple store, located on North Michigan Ave, also was designed by the firm.

The electronics retailer had been scouting other Chicago locations, including the Block 37 development on State Street, according to Chicago Business. Apple reportedly agreed to a $700,000 per year lease for the new lot.

Clybourn Corridor is a sub-neighborhood of Chicago's Lincoln Park, a trendy area known for its dining and shopping destinations. Other retailers in the corridor include Best Buy, Gap, Pier 1 Imports, Pottery Barn, Express, Ethan Allen, Crate & Barrel and Whole Foods.
