Apple Tops Forbes’ List of Fastest-Growing Retailers

Anyone who’s waited to play with any of the tech toys in an Apple Store won’t be surprised that the consumer electronics giant came in first on Forbes magazine’s list of the nation’s 10 Fastest-Growing Retailers. Sales for Apple’s more than 287 stores jumped nearly 90 percent over the last three years to $9.6 billion which, according to the report, translates to the highest revenue per square foot in the retail industry.

Amazon garnered the number two spot thanks to its three-year revenue jump of almost 80 percent to generate annual revenues of $19.1 billion. Rounding out the Top 10 were: PriceSmart; Urban Outfitters; Netflix; Chipotle Mexican Grill; BJ’s Restaurants; Buffalo Wild Wings; The Buckle and Texas Roadhouse.

Companies were ranked by sales growth over the last three years. However, the report points out that companies that derived sales growth primarily from acquisitions were omitted.
